Boston Tattoo Artist| PROFILE
Dia Moeller | Brilliance Tattoo
Dia is a tattoo artist in Boston Massachusetts that currently works at Brilliance Tattoo in Jamaica Plaine. We first met Dia almost six years ago when she was at The Boston Tattoo Company in Medford, MA. In the last six or so years, we have worked with Dia to clear up some of her own tattoos for coverups and also helped her clients out.
Uniquely Dia, her artistic elements include floral prints, etchings, natural illustration, the occasional watercolor or natural tones and textures compliment her style. Dias natural plate and use of thin line detail require a near perfect canvas. Admittedly, coverup tattoos are not Dias favorite thing to do so she works closely with The Finery Boston to fade old work.
Tattoos that require a lot of negative space often are the hardest to prepare for as the artist is using the existing texture of the skin or faded work as an element in the new tattoo. We typically find that clients who are interested in Dias illustrative style, black and grey tattoos and line work typically have the biggest challenge ahead.
Tattoo cover up three s’s
The first challenge when considering a coverup is saturation. Tribal tattoos, traditional tattoos, script, and realism tattoos are generally harder to cover because of the amount of saturated ink and lack of negative space. In Dias clients case, the thick line work and angles made this tattoo a challenge to cover.
Whether you are looking for a tattoo artist in Boston, New York City or Northampton, MA it is likely that you have a tattoo design in mind. The tattoo style that you chose is important to determine whether or not you will be satisfied with the ultimate outcome.
In the case of Dias client, the tattoo is located on the back of her neck. Neck tattoo designs offer little room to expand especially when the client has a specific outcome in mind.
We often find that the size of the coverup tattoo is reduced when clients chose to fade the existing tattoo. If size is an issue for a hand, wrist or neck tattoo coverup laser is essential.
TATTOO REMOVAL | result
Framed eye tattoo
This client is still working on her removal and coverup, as we all progress the tattoo design clearly begins to take shape and omits the existing tattoo. The top of the coverup follows the line of her shoulder blades for a more natural flow.
FLower tattoo Design
The orange rose is an addition to the coverup design that will bring the coverup down the back to begin to cover another tattoo. Eventually, this client will have a full illustrative floral back tattoo.
Tattoo removal is our profession, building relationships with our clients and tattoo artists in the community are our passion. We consider tattoo artists in Boston and throughout the country our peers.
